I saw those beach shots come through Flickr, and they made me more than a little homesick. I don't really like the beach, and I remember that every time I go, but not before I go out in the middle of the night and listen to the waves and take off my shoes to feel the sand between my toes. Sigh. It's been a while since I've even been to North Carolina, let alone the beach house we were always in while I was growing up.

we slept with the window open every night, just to hear the ocean. it makes me feel so at peace to listen to it, especially in the nighttime silence.


if you wanted to come visit, we could drive to the beach in the middle of the night.

oh, man, that sounds so great. i'm going to try really hard to get some NC time in 2009. i think i get another week of vacation this year, so it might actually be possible!
