my senior year of high school, i started making a mix tape at christmas - the annual tape usually covered songs i'd listened to that year, songs that i felt summed up the year, stuff from new albums i'd bought that year.
i've been doing it ever since. sometimes the mix gets made and never gets distributed to people, which is due only to my laziness. sometimes i actually manage to burn three dozen copies and mail them out on time. it goes both ways. but! thanks to yousendit.com, i've got a great new way to distribute the mix.
so here it is, in one convenient zip file (um, that's 60MB big, so dialup users, beware). the track list is behind the cut; the file is available for download here. it's at yousendit, so click on the link and then download the file from the yousendit page. make a playlist and listen to it on winamp! burn it to a cd! ignore it altogether! whatever floats your boat.
this is the minervacat christmas two-thousand four mix: drunk with the only saints i know. enjoy it. ♥
(if the link dies, let me know and i'll reupload it. i will, however, be gone from thursday to tuesday, so if it dies then, you'll just have to wait. get it while it's hot!)

OMG, are you fucking kidding me?
Ok, back when I was in high school, like ten years ago, I taped this song from the radio, because I'd heard it a few times and really liked it. And the more I listened to the tape, the more I liked it. I'd listen to it with headphones on really late at night when I couldn't sleep. And then one time listening to it, I thought the voices at the end of the song sounded familiar - the more I listened, the more convinced I was that the one of the voices was Emily Salliers from the Indigo Girls. Who I was obsessed with, so I trusted my ability to pick up her voice. In turn, I became obsessed with the song, but they never seemed to play it again on the radio, and so I could never tell who wrote it. And all I had was that scratchy tape of it that cut off a bit of the beginning. But I knew that song by heart.
And then somehow I forgot about it. Until I was just playing your mix this morning. I started crying, because, OMG, it was THAT SONG!
Anyway, this may seem really strange, you have made me SO HAPPY with this random thing. Thank you for this.

(Thanks for putting this together, btw, it looks like an awesome mix, and i'd hate to seem like an ungrateful complainer)
