i may be a bird in a cage but at least it's your cage

PAY ATTENTION, DUE SOUTH PEOPLE: i don't think any of you have me but not pearl friended, BUT: pearl_o and i are running a fic challenge! it brings the best of two worlds together: ray kowalski and the old 97s. what happens is you go to this entry and look at the lyrics and read the rules and claim some old 97s lyrics, and then you have TWO MONTHS to write a ray kowalski-centric due south story. and post it two days after my birthday! i am, um, kind of thinking about this as my own personal birthday challenge because hello, ray kowalski! the old 97s! two of my favorite things ever! i mean, honestly. if these aren't all presents for meeeeeeee, i don't know what you people are doing.

today's list, in honor of the fact that i still haven't folded the laundry i did two weeks ago, is top five things you would rather eat glass than ever have to do again. things that you do, that you have to do, but you really desperately hate doing. you know.

my list:

1. folding laundry. i will happily wash as much laundry as you want me to. folding it? is a chore i avoid at all costs.

2. emptying the dishwasher. here is how i live: i start with an empty dishwasher. i cook meals until i am out of clean dishes, because they are all in the dishwasher. i run the dishwasher. i do not put the clean dishes away. i use the dishes out of the dishwasher until the dishwasher is empty and the sink is full of dirty dishes. i fill the dishwasher. lather, rinse, repeat.

3. ordering food over the phone. ordering in a restaurant? fine. calling a pizza place and ordering food? i hate it. i will go to incredible lengths to make someone else order. i don't understand it, either.

4. getting out of bed in the morning. i think most of us can probably get behind this one.

5. fly on an airplane through a hurricane. i'm not a good flyer, anyway - i don't like to fly, i'm not wild about airports, even good weather flying makes me nervous. but flying out of atlanta while hurricane dennis battered the airport last july? i would set myself on fire than ever have to do that again, omg.

... i drank four cups of coffee at home and then got a venti raspberry mocha with an extra shot of espresso from starbucks on my way to campus. i may possibly be overcaffeinated today. um. HI.
