minervacat: (breaks my heart to see you this way)
no one ever tags me for that seven songs you're digging right now meme, so i am just going to post seven songs i'm digging right now ALL BY MYSELF. hmph.
[fall out boy, hum hallelujah]. okay, so, here's the thing: i've always been -- a music elitist, if not a snob, and i turned my nose up at fall out boy for a really, really long time, and then i, uh, acquired their complete discography and some of it's not to my taste, but, see, i kind of love this song completely and totally and unironically. so there goes all my music cred, sigh. my love for this song makes me stutter in type, how embarrassing is that? pop punk.

[panic! at the disco, the weight (live at reading)]. i already posted this cover earlier this week, but i think it's really fabulous. a great song and a solid cover. pop punk covering classic rock.

[the weepies, gotta have you]. i wish someone would put this on a mix for me. like, someone i was dating and possibly in love with. i don't know why i think this song is as heartbreaking and romantic as i do. indie hipster rock.

[sugar, if i can't change your mind]. this is a track that i adored in college, even as it made me horrifically depressed (it's not a depressing song! it just made me depressed, because i was a crazy emo girl in college), and i had sort of forgotten about until husker du showed up in a playlist i downloaded and i started thinking about bob mould, who fronted both bands. pop rock.

[josh ritter, to the dogs or whoever]. from the new album. this track makes me stupidly happy. alt country.

[my chemical romance, i'm not okay]. okay, so, if i'm throwing my cred away, i'm throwing it all away. i spent a good chunk of this week listening to this on repeat and resisting the urge to send it to some of my ex-boyfriends, because i'm not really that mean. and also i'm really okay, most days! i just have mean thoughts sometimes. and i enjoy screaming along with gerard way. pop punk.

[kasey chambers, the captain (live acoustic)]. an old favorite, but it's been months if not years since i've posted it. this song absolutely breaks my heart; kasey's little girl voice isn't for everyone, but the opening line is "well i don't have as many friends because i'm not as pretty as i was" and it just breaks me right open. alt country.

all the songs are up on sendspace, trial purposes only, if you like the artists go out and buy their albums or see their shows, and if you download, i'd love a comment, just so's i know who's enjoying this stuff. xoxo.
in other news, if anyone on the internets wanted to buy me a sex cannon t-shirt, i prefer a size medium in orange. um. hi!
