[mason jennings: the ballad of paul and sheila]
i'm not a particularly politically active person and i don't talk about my political beliefs or opinions almost ever in this space, but the one group i do donate to on a regular basis, whenever i can scrounge up the money, is the wellstone action group, who train staff for, campaign for and fund the grassroots campaigns of progressive candidates. their slogan is educate, advocate, organize. i believe in what the wellstone action group does far, far more than i believe in almost any other political group in country. if you have a couple of extra bucks lying around and you want to give it to a group that will actually do something about the state of politics in our country, check them out.
to steal a line from a fictional chief of staff: paul wellstone was a man who stood up. and every day he's gone, my heart breaks a little.
