minervacat: (i walk the line)
i totally forgot to watch lost last night. thank god for the tivo.

thursday again, classes start today, i will be trapped in things like intro to databases and collection development and human information interactions all day and thus won't be around to respond to things until the evening. this one's for [livejournal.com profile] roz_mcclure: top five movie dance sequences. like. you know. dancing! in movies! that's good! *hand waving*

my list:
1. fred astaire in royal wedding. it's the one where he dances on the CEILING. i had to call my mom and ask which fred astaire movie it was, to be honest, but man. greatest dance sequence in the history of ever.

2. uma and john in pulp fiction. great movie, greater dance scene.

3. that scene in save the last dance where julia stiles is all hiphopping her way through the ghetto south side of chicago with her headphones on. cheesetastic and wonderful. (also, my love for that movie knows no bounds. i tivo it whenever it's on tbs. i also unironically love drumline. i have no shame any more at all.)

(it is worth noting that at this point, i went and sat on the floor in front of my dvd collection to ponder what other dance sequences i really loved, and i ended up thinking about how varsity blues would have been immensely improved by a good dance sequence. and let us never speak of the fact that i paid good money for varsity blues on dvd again.)

4. the "like a virgin" sequence from moulin rouge. i'm sorry, it really doesn't get any better than that, thanks.

5. the final competition sequence in bring it on. because cheerleaders are dancers who have gone retarded, and i have seen that movie well over 100 times.
all right, kids, let's shake some booty. talk to me!

in other news, one of my new year's resolutions was to write at least 500 words a day on fiction, be it fan or original. i've added to that that if i skip a day, i have to write two days' worth plus an extra 500 the next day. and so on and so forth, for each day i miss. it's working pretty well so far, in that i've written 7300 words of fiction of some variety since january first. it's working badly in that a lot of that was porn. but, you know. i'm less crazy when i'm writing.

now i have to go to class. ugh, class. why am i not yet independently wealthy?
